Downtown Sacramento has some truly great restaurants, bars, and cafe’s and it feels like every time I’m there for a session I’m discovering a new spot to check out. Uncle Vito’s Slice of NY has been around for quite a while and does have several locations but this spot in Downtown Sac right next to Snug off 15th and R really is the best. I had so much fun shooting Noemi + Zach’s engagement session here. First, I’ve never shot a couple inside of a business before (we verified with the Manager that we were absolutely fine shooting there as long as customers were not in the background or affected). Second, it was the first session I got to use my new flash and I was so pleased and learned so much about it quickly!

Sometimes with Candid/Documentary photos there is a fear of missing good shots and if you aren’t paying attention you absolutely will. But I’ve learned by slowing down and just being present in these moments you will definitely get the shots that your couple is going to absolutely love. And for couples worried it won’t work, trust that it WILL work I promise!! What really helped prep for this session was communication ahead of time as well as having a shared Pinterest board to share inspo pictures to really get an idea of your clients vision as well as what you are hoping for as well for the photographer. I have to say, having the trust from your client to bring the vision to life is a little scary but definitely one of the most fulfilling jobs, especially when you receive the excited texts of how much they love each image and they were exactly what they wanted. Here’s just a few snippets of this session but as always the button at the bottom leads to the full album <3
